  • New Starbucks opened – Hangzhou EAC

Starbucks is slowly creeping west. If I can hold on a couple of years there might even be one downstairs from me.
Check this for your nearest Starbucks

  • D’Cafe Hangzhou

…Seriously though. D’Cafe isn’t actually a hotdog place in the Projects. Far from it. With the marble clad reception of the Dragon Hotel large enough to park a whole NBA teams’s worth of Hummers this place is more fitting to be seen drinking Crystal Champagne than chasing the dragon. With all this awe and glory and chandelier on the way in, it is slightly surprising that D’Cafe isn’t done up to the nines as well. This restaurant is simply comfortable …

  • Paninis!

The Segafredo coffee, double thick double espresso was so strong the backs of my eyes watered and my nose tingled.

  • Snack at Shanghai South

If you don’t have an hour to kill at Shanghai South, you would probably never get to find Bricco. Once you know where it is, killing 30 minutes becomes almost a pleasure. Bricco is a deli, almost. Not quite what you find on Sloane Street, but nevertheless, cold beer, pizza slices, tasty sandwiches with good [...]

  • Me Too Cafe | 蜜桃咖啡

From the West Side of Hangzhou Me Too Cafe 蜜桃咖啡 is a bit of a slog, so why not make an afternoon of it – wasnt as if I had never been there, so I knew it would be easier enough to do. And in any case, the cafe is a part of a factory re-design aka Docklands or something in London. There is literally loads of space with high ceilings, design companies, designer home-fittings shops and more open each month. That by itself is worth the effort.

  • IFE Cafe

IFE – anybody know if that is a name, or initials of something else? – is a local daytime hangout aimed firmly at the foreign students living and working at Yuquan Campus of Zhejiang Uni.. The place is tiny, self service, cosily decorated and has pretty good coffee, both to drink and beans to buy. [...]

  • Costa Coffee

When you walk into either of them it’s kinda hard to put your finger on the major differences between Costa and Starbucks. Costa is from England, Starbucks from America, ok. Starbucks is of course the bigger player here in Hangzhou, although Costa does well in England. After that, well… Inside they are very familiar, almost [...]

  • Starbucks

Of course Starbucks is in Hangzhou, where is it not? This isnt a ground-breaking review about coffee, just a map of all the Starbucks I can think of.

  • Jamaica Cafe

Dont really know why this place is called Jamaica, it is a chain of cafe’s from Spain. And it certainly doesn’t have that Reggae thing going on. Whatever the name, Jamaica Cafe is good, and could be called just about anything. These guys really know about their coffee, or at least I think so, and [...]

  • Vineyard Cafe

This rather new addition to the bar and restaurant scene has about 10 different names, but Vineyard sounds best, so that’s what it’s going to be on this page. Vineyard is a favourite afternoon hang-out for this office-less wannabe writer. The internet is good, the Illy coffee is really good, and there is a range [...]
