You To is a landmark, or at least the owner Qise Wole (Lao Yan) is. He has been running bars in Hangzhou since Marco Polo times, the first one was Pontiac on Nanshan Road. Yes, his was pretty much the only bar there then. You To is the drinking place of Shuguang Road, and it is packed from 6pm until 1am every day without fail. The place is decked out in wood, all very worn, and in fact it is totally filthy. There should be sawdust on the floor. By about 8pm most patrons are smashed. The band varies from bad to awful, but they are having a great time, and therefore so does everybody. The atmosphere, and of course, the cheap fresh Tiger Beer carries this place, and you will never leave it wanting, or walking.
